GREENGAGE
GRAF ALTHANS RENECLAUDE
is best known for its pink to reddish-blue skin. ´Althans Reneclaude´ has a reddish-yellow, soft, juicy and very sweet flesh with a very noble, spicy taste. This makes them special, especially in wine-growing climates and on good soils. It ripens in the second half of August. Besides plum varieties, the ´Große grüne Reneklode´ is also suitable as a pollinator.
REINECLAUDE d´QUILLINS
also ripens - somewhat successively - in the second half of August and has a yellow-green to orange-yellow skin colour with soft, juicy and moderately stone-dissolving flesh. Very sweet and tasty when fully ripe. Thanks to its great and regular fertility and low climatic requirements, it is a widespread, well-known variety. Self-fertile.
GROSSE GRÜNE RENECLAUDE
This valuable greengage variety (excellent for preservation, distillation and as a table fruit) ripens at the end of August, is of medium size and dark green to brownish yellow in colour, the flesh is yellowish-green, juicy, sweet, finely spiced and the stone is easy to dissolving out. Moderate growth and yield. Self sterile. The pollinators can be ´Quillins´, ´Nancy Mirabelle´ and various plum varieties.
MIRABELLES
BELLAMIRA®
Is, like Miragrande®, a new Mirabelle from the fruit growing department of the Geisenheim Research Institute and a cross of Cacaks Beste x Mirabelle von Nancy. Bellamira® is the largest of our mirabelles (up to 18 g) and ripens one week before Mirabelle von Nancy. The flesh is golden yellow, sweet and juicy, with very good taste and stone-dissolving; the tree grows vigorously, blooms moderately late on one-year old and perennial wood and is self-fertile. The yield starts very early and is very high with low tendency to alternation. Bellamira® is robust against monilia, rust and aphids.
MIRABELLE VON NANCY
is closely related to our mostly blue-coloured ´Kriecherln´ and has an orange-yellow colouring with reddened spots and cheeks on the sunny side. Although belonging to the large fruity mirabelle family, the fruit size is only 6 to 10 g. The deep yellow flesh is medium firm, rather juicy, very sweet and very aromatic. The ´Mirabelle von Nancy´ is one of the most valuable of the group, and is especially appreciated as brandy, jam and other processed products by connoisseurs as well as amateur growers. Self-fertile, but tends to alternate after high-yielding years.
BLAUES KRIECHERL
Kriecherl (=Damson plum) can be found in the Weinviertel in many colours - from yellow to red to blue. Among the yellow ones, the Mirabelle von Nancy is the most tasteful and the sweetest one, among the blue ones we have a particularly high-yielding, sweet selection with the typical blue damson aroma. Due to the early and high yield the tree grows rather weak to medium strong and is very robust.
SPENLING
The Spenling (Prunus domestica subsp. Pomariorum), also called Spilling in German, is a subspecies of the plum. It is closely related to the damson plum but does not have thorns. Like for damsons, there are yellow, red and blue varieties. We have a particularly sweet, yellow-red selection, which is particularly suitable for processing due to its excellent aroma. The tree grows moderately and produces good yields.
